Forms of fiber art include crocheting, knitting, sewing, needlepoint, macrame, weaving, felting, embroidery, rug-making and more! Come and join a group of fellow fiber art creators! Register for one session, or register for them all! Please bring a fiber art project to work on. This can be a current project, an old project or bring something new that you have wanted to try but haven’t. I will demonstrate a different fiber art/technique each session. You can create something fun and useful as well as meet new crafting friends along the way! No prior experience is necessary, just bring your creativity and enthusiasm! Hot Glue Embroidery: In this session, we will use hot glue to make a pattern on an Adia cloth, then embroider a design over it using embroidery floss and a tapestry needle. (Please bring a tapestry needle and hot glue gun, if you have one.) Cardboard Heart Loom: In this session, we will make a heart shaped loom out of cardboard and then weave yarn through it to make a lovely heart wall hanging. Pool Noodle Centerpiece: In this session, we will make a beautiful spring centerpiece using a pool noodle as our base. Her teaching passion has led her to accept numerous teaching positions since retiring from teaching in the school system. She a professional artist that has exhibited her artwork nationally as well as internationally and has her artwork in several national art galleries in their permanent collections and in countless private collections. Watercolor I This workshop is geared towards someone who would like to learn the challenge of creating with this very interesting medium. Students will start by learning the basics of watercolor techniques using only the primary colors in warm and cool hues. The more experienced watercolor student will also benefit from taking this workshop as students will be learning from where they are with their watercolor/art background. Demonstrations as well as individual instruction will be provided. The student then can apply the viewed demonstrations to their artwork. A supply list will be provided upon registration. Watercolor 2 This workshop will include all levels of student’s watercolor/art creating background. It will include demonstrations as well as individual instructions. Adult Kayaking Trips (Winter/Spring)Enrichment/Senior ProgramsSpring Kayaking Trips Big Muskego Lake Scenic Kayak Tours Come join the Muskego Recreation staff and our very own Conservatist guiding you on a kayaking excursion on beautiful Big Muskego Lake. Big Muskego Lake is recognized as a regionally significant natural area and an Important Bird Area. Enjoy an evening of paddling this deep-water marsh habitat via kayak to observe nesting Ospreys, eagles, pelicans, swans, potentially endangered Forster’s terns, as well as many other marsh birds and waterfowl within the upcoming summer season. This trip will require competent paddling ability. Bringbinoculars (and/or camera). Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kayak or canoe, paddles, & PFD, however these will beprovided at an additional expense, if needed. Trip will commence and end at Boxhorn Boat Launch located at S90W13976 Boxhorn Drive. Fox River Guided Tour Come join the Muskego Recreation staff on a one-way paddling trip down the Fox River. On this evening trip down the Fox River, participants will enjoy 6 miles of secluded beauty of the river starting at the Big Bend Park and traveling to Bobberz Tavern which is located right on the river at 8330 Fox River Rd, Waterford. This section is beautiful in its own right which travels through secluded prairie scenery and is just north of the Tichigan State Wildlife Area. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kayak or canoe, paddles, & PFD, however these will be provided at an additional expense if needed. Complimentary shuttling will be available before the tripsbegins, making your vehicle available at Bobberz Tavern where we finish. The shuttle will depart promptly at 10:00 AM. If you are utilizing your own kayak, you will need to make arrangements to drop your equipment at Big Bend Park Boat Launch before the trips begins and have your vehicle at Bobberz Tavern to catch the 10:00 AM shuttle. Additional details regarding shuttle transportation and equipmentdrop off will be provided at registration. Lulu Lake Scenic Guided Kayak Tour Come join the Muskego Recreation staff on a paddle into one of Southeastern Wisconsin’s secret lakes, Lulu Lake! This lake is lovely and charming, and the trip will have a sense of adventure and exploration. We will depart on a 5-mile paddle starting at Eagle Springs Lake to find this secret lake, one that’s surrounded by public land in the Kettle Moraine State Forest and protected as a state natural area.Attendees are encouraged to bring their own kayak or canoe, paddles, & PFD, however these will be provided at an additional expense if needed. We will meet at Eagle Springs Lake public boat launch off Wambold Road, Mukwonago. Additional details of location will be provided at registration. Little Muskego Lake Social Paddle Come join the Muskego Recreation staff on an evening social paddle on Little Muskego Lake! While weenjoy the tranquility and vast space that Big Muskego Lake offers kayakers, Little Muskego Lake can alsoprovide a fantastic setting for an evening paddle. World Migratory Bird Day Celebration (Winter/Spring)Enrichment/Senior ProgramsWorld Migratory Bird Day Celebration (Co-op with Muskego) Come celebrate World Migratory Bird Day and Muskego's recognition as a Bird City Wisconsin at Badertscher Preserve. May is peak migration time in this area and provides an outstanding opportunity to see several dozen species of birds in one day! World Migratory Bird Day brings awareness to approximately 350 species that travel from their wintering grounds in South and Central America, Mexico, the Caribbean, and the southern U.S. to more northerly reaches of North America. Both experienced birders and beginners will enjoy observing birds as we hike trails through woodland, prairie, and wetland habitats. The program is free of charge. Bird observation hikes start at 8:30am. Wear footwear to hike trails in possible wet conditions. Please bring binoculars, camera, and bird field guide if you have them.
