AFTER SCHOOL THEATER CLASSES

Grades 1st - 5th Sing! Dance! Act! Join Character Kids for our fun-filled spring session, where students will perform a script based on a popular Broadway musical! We'll put our stage skills to use while developing characters, staging a mini-show, and learning songs and dances from the musical. Parents are invited to a special performance on the last day of class! New and returning students are welcome. Focus is put on developing imagination, social skills, and a positive self-image through the performing arts.

Summer Theater Classes 2025

All camps take place at Southwood Glen Elementary (9090 S 35th Street, Franklin), where we have full use of the gym, stage and playground! Family and friends are invited to a special performance on the last day of each camp. Focus is put on developing imagination, social skills and a positive self image through the performing arts.

One Week Camps  

BROADWAY BOUND:  July 7-11, 9:00am - 12PM, Ages 7-11, $179/1 week

Are you Broadway Bound? Come sing, dance and act with us in this fun-filled musical theater camp where students will learn songs and scenes from a variety of Broadway shows and movie musicals! This half day camp will include creative drama games, stage skill building and exploration of popular musicals based on student interest. Don’t miss your chance to shine in the spotlight! 

SONGS & SCENES FROM MOANA:  July 14-18, 9:00am - 12PM, Ages 7-11, $179/1 week

What lies beyond? Join this musical adventure based on the hit Disney films, Moana and Moana 2! Reunite with Moana and Maui as they journey to the far seas of Oceania. Learn important stage skills, play theater games, and rehearse your favorite songs and scenes from the beloved films while making new friends and having a lot of fun!

Are you ready to shine in the spotlight? Join us for a fun-filled musical theater camp where students will learn songs and scenes from a variety of Broadway shows and movie musicals! This half day camp will include creative drama games, stage skill building and exploration of popular musicals based on student interest. No experience necessary. This is our only summer camp for this age group, so register early!

SONGS & SCENES FROM THE LAND OF OZ:  July 21 - 25, 1:00-4:00pm, Ages 7-11, $179/1wk

Follow the Yellow Brick Road to the wonderful land of Oz! This fun-filled camp brings the adventures of Glinda, Elphaba, Dorothy and Toto to life onstage. Learn important stage skills, play theater games, and rehearse your favorite songs and scenes from The Wizard of Oz and Wicked! 

SONGS & SCENES FROM DESCENDANTS: July 28-August 1, 1:00-4:00pm, Ages 7-11, $17/1wk

Spend the week exploring your favorite songs and scenes from the Descendants movies! The battle between good and evil has been fought since the beginning of time, but none understand the struggle more than the children of your favorite Disney villains! Students will learn stage skills while exploring the exciting characters, story lines and songs from these beloved Disney films. 

SONGS & SCENES FROM THE ADDAMS FAMILY MUSICAL:  August 4-8, 1:00pm - 4:00pm, Ages 7-11, $179/wk

Celebrate the wackiness in every family while exploring the Broadway hit “The Addams Family”! Join Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez and the rest of this kooky family as they attempt to act “normal” for one night. Campers will have the spooktacular opportunity to rehearse and perform select songs and scenes from this original musical about love, family, honesty, and growing up. 

TWO WEEK MUSICAL PRODUCTION CAMPS

FINDING NEMO KIDS

Character Kids invites you to join the cast of Disney’s Finding Nemo Kids! Explore the big blue world in our summer musical production camp based on the beloved Pixar film! Disney’s Finding Nemo JR follows the story of Marlin and Nemo, as they each set off on an epic adventure across the ocean. Along the way, they find new friends and overcome challenges on their journey to find each other and themselves. 

All students who register are guaranteed a role in the show. Low pressure auditions will take place on the first day of camp for role placement. Students do not need to prepare anything for the auditions. No previous experience necessary. Students MUST be available for the final performance date in order to enroll. 

Due to popular demand, we’re offering two different sessions of our Musical Production Camp this summer!

SESSION 1:  July 7-18 (Monday - Friday, 1:00-4:00 pm, Ages 7-11, $375/2wks.   Performance:  Friday, July 18th @ 3PM  

SESSION 2:  July 28 - August 8 (Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm, Ages 7-11, $375/2wks.   Performance:  Friday, August 8th @ 11am
